Best Pumpkin Festivals in the US

Fall is not complete without visiting pumpkin patches. America does not fall short of these Fall festivities. Here’s a list of some of the best pumpkin festivals to visit this fall:

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, Providence, RI

Each year, the Roger Williams Park Zoo transforms into the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. More than 115,000 people visit the display each year. It’s a seasonal art show that showcases over 5,000 carved and illuminated pumpkins. Every year is set on a different theme. 2018’s theme was “Experience the Magic,” where guests experienced various themed activities and event nights. They get to enjoy the amazing depictions of fairy tale characters, superheroes and wizards creatively carved into the gourds.

Autumn at the Arboretum, Dallas, TX

Every fall, Dallas’ Arboretum more than 90,000 squash, gourds, and pumpkins serve as wonderful decoration on the huts, pathways, and gardens at the Pumpkin Village.

Last year’s theme was a Peter Pan inspired display called “Adventures in Neverland.” They had reimagined versions of Tinker Bell’s home, the Lost Boys hideout and Captain Hook’s pirate ship. For their 14th year “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” will be their theme.

Visitors can see a Pumpkin Village featuring pumpkin houses and creative displays made up of over 90,000 pumpkins, squash, and gourds. They will see the ever famous ‘Great Pumpkin’ filled with marigolds.

They will spot Lucy giving garden advice at her booth, Linus, Sally and Franklin looking through the pumpkin patch while Snoopy and Woodstock sit atop his dog house. Schroeder can also be seen standing near his giant piano.

 Autumn at the Arboretum is dubbed as “America’s Best Pumpkin Festivals” by Fodor’s Travel. The festival showcases breathtaking colors of fall making use of 150,000 autumn flowers accented by gourds, squash, and pumpkins.

The Great Pumpkin Farm Fall Festival

This world-record-breaking pumpkin festival is held in Clarence, New York. They started by hosting an annual weigh-off back in 1996. Later on, it evolved to dawn to the dusk event complete with attractions, cool rides, and wonderful shows. Guests can also shoot Zombies from their zombie paintball train. They can also try crazy activities like slingshotting pumpkins or launching them out of cannons.

Their famous Pumpkin Palace serves fresh doughnuts, pies made of freshly picked fruit from the farm, and apple cider. Admission is at no charge during weekdays. They charge $8 base admission during weekends. There are additional fees for rides and attractions.

New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival, Laconia, NH

This New Hampshire festival is a one-weekend event only. The event gained popularity since they currently hold the Guinness World Record champion for the most number of lit jack-o’-lanterns (30,581). Guests can visit the food and craft fair and try delicious homemade, pumpkin treats and goodies. They can also try your pumpkin bowling before enjoying a beer in the garden.

Spirit of Halloweentown, St. Helens, OR

This one-month-long festival in St. Helens is inspired by the 1998 Disney Channel movie Halloweentown. They reenact this famous movie during the month-long festival. Some of the cast members can also be spotted like Kimberly J. Brown who plays Marnie, the main character. Guests can enjoy masquerade balls, haunted tractor rides and watch as they light up the giant pumpkin.
